Saving the Last, Best Place in Annapolis
Crystal Spring Farm is the last extensive undisturbed forest in the entire city of Annapolis. Developers are planning to destroy this forest to develop a massive, mixed-use development three times the size of Annapolis Parole Towne Centre.
New Partnership Inspires Hope for Stopping the Village at Providence Point Development and Protecting Crystal Spring Forest
April 15, 2021
The Friends of Crystal Spring Forest are pleased to announce a transition and new partnership with the Crab Creek Conservancy, a new watershed organization that works to protect and conserve the forest lands, habitats and open space in the Crab Creek Watershed, home to Crystal Spring Forest and surrounding areas. Crab Creek Conservancy is a registered Maryland nonprofit based here in Annapolis, and we will be partnering with them in our efforts to stop the Village at Providence Point Development, which will destroy 28 acres of mature priority forest and wipe out the meadows and wetlands of Crystal Spring Farm.
Through this partnership, we hope to gain continued public support for protecting this last, best place in Annapolis. We believe Crystal Spring farm and forest should be zoned as open space and made into protected land. It should be removed from the Annapolis Comprehensive Plan designation of “economic opportunity area” and reclassified as an “Environmental and Ecological Opportunity Area”, one that will combat climate change, preserve natural habitats and biodiversity, and help mitigate the environmental impacts of noise and pollution to nearby environmental justice communities.
Please help Crab Creek Conservancy and Friends of Crystal Spring Forest protect this last, best place in Annapolis. Go online to our fundraiser, or you can send donations to:
