Saving the Last, Best Place in Annapolis
Crystal Spring Farm is the last extensive undisturbed forest in the entire city of Annapolis. Developers are planning to destroy this forest to develop a massive, mixed-use development three times the size of Annapolis Parole Towne Centre.
A Year-end Message from the Friends of Crystal Spring Forest
Dear Friends of Crystal Spring Forest,
On this first day of the new solar year, there is much light and hope as we celebrate yet another year that Crystal Spring Forest has survived pressure from development. As of today, there is still no permitted project at Crystal Spring, and there are still many hurdles the developers must face in order to get something approved. Your efforts and your support have largely contributed to that outcome. And for that, we thank you!! Back in January, when the City of Annapolis Dept of Neighborhoods and Environmental Programs (DNEP) so quietly announced the public comment period for another rendition of the Developers’ destructive project on the eve of a major holiday, you all rallied to the cause to let the City know that enough is enough, and that this area is worth more to our community in-tact than any development.
Despite the recent silence on Crystal Spring, however, things are about to get hot. We have learned that the developers have created yet a another version of the Crystal Spring development. We anticipate the City will announce this new project sometime in early 2016!!
Annapolitans are tired of this drill – and it has become clear to us that a new vision for the largest and last major unprotected open space on the Annapolis Peninsula is sorely needed. That is why the Friends of Crystal Spring Forest will be embarking on a new effort to save this amazing place permanently. We will be holding a major event sometime in January – look for our upcoming announcements!
We continue to be the only group that believes Crystal Spring Farm and Forest merit permanent protection and that no development should be allowed there, unless it is to foster its existence as open space. Our message resonates with our nearly 2,000 total supporters on Facebook, Twitter, and our website. We will also continue to work with our valued partners to support the Crystal Spring Legal Defense Fund. If you would like to make a year-end donation to the fund, you can do so online by sending a check to:

Please write on the memo line: “Crystal Spring Legal Defense Fund”.
Thank you for all you do in support of the forest and for Annapolis open space.
Happy Holidays,
The Friends of Crystal Spring Forest
